Stay strong, Olga, you've got this!
Also, after careful consideration over these last few months and because most of the WEP staff is dealing with continuing health issues, grief, and the awful stress of Covid and the toxic political atmosphere here in the U.S. ... we are canceling the December challenge. We apologize to anyone who already has their entry ready. We'll unmask UNMASKED another day, so don't despair. But we felt a longer break was needed for the team's mental health and to give everyone a Christmas break and a fresh start in 2021.
We promise we will return for February 1's post. If anyone feels they'd like to add their energy to the team in some way, small or large, please email Denise on den.covey@gmail.com. and we'll consider your application.
Please keep your eyes on this site where we'll reveal our challenges for 2021. Most probably on December 1. An exciting new 2021 is coming!
Since we're still keeping things lite, there will be no blurbs again this month. But if you still haven't read the entries, just follow this Link to GRAVE MISTAKE!

And here is a badge, Olga, made from your intricate artwork to celebrate your mastery of your fantasy serial.

If you're wondering how we got our badges this month, Olga sent what was needed to Denise, and her husband Geo put it all together. I think he's done a super job! Thanks Geo!

My heart goes out to Olga and I wish her nothing but the very best. Thank you for recognising all the incredible work she has contributed over the years.
ReplyDeleteHUGE congratulations (as always) to the winners, the contributors and many thanks to the team.
Here's to a wonderful 2021 - for us all.
Thanks Sue, and thanks for all your help with the WEP team when we called on you. Please take care of yourself! And a wonderful 2021 to you too!
DeleteCongrats to the winners. And thank you, my WEP team friends, for the special badge and your continuous good wishes. It's nice to have you in my corner. :))
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and wishing you good health. Hugs.
DeleteYes Olga - I too hope you feel easier soon ... all the very best;
DeleteCongratulations on your well-deserved award ... brilliant artwork and stories you give us - as well as all the support to us all. With thoughts - Hilary
Thinking of you, Olga - get well soon :)
DeleteOlga, you know you're in my thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. Much love coming your way from the WEP team and members.
DeleteThank you for everything you do, and get well soon!
DeleteYou are a stalwart of the WEP team. Thanks for all you do, Olga - get better soon. Blessings and prayers.
DeleteCongratulations to all winners! The entries for this challenge ran the entire gamut of genres and tones, superb creativity and so diverse! Just amazing.
ReplyDeleteI second that, Nila. We have a talented pool of writers to nurture. I don't want to lose this. It's precious.
DeleteCongratulations to the Rebecca - well done. It's such a difficult time for all of us. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Olga. I hope we all have time to recharge our minds and keep healthy over the next few very trying months. Massive thanks to all the team for keeping us going this far. Thinking of all my good friends I've met in WEP.
ReplyDeleteYou've definitely been a good friend to WEP, Sally. Your words are treasured, as are your entries. Your October entry was so good, but we have to somehow keep that shortlist shorter than we'd like.
DeleteHi Denise and all organisers ... I do hope Olga will fully recover soon - thinking of you. Take care everyone ... and congratulations to all the winners ... I quite understand re deferring December's Unmasked WEP post ... all the best - Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words and your ongoing support Hilary. All the best to you, too!
DeleteCongrats to Rebecca, Toi, und Donna for winning. I wish all three of you continued success in your writing careers.
ReplyDeleteTo Olga- I won't say get well soon, because that always indicate for me a long weary process and in my heart I want you not to linger in sickness but to spring up from your bed and be renewed instantly. So I'll say you are in my prayers, and I pray that your sickness passes by quickly.
To the WEP Team- thanks for your featuring the WEP through the many storms in your personal lives as well as the external storms that are happening all around us.
I so agree with cancelling December. It is time to step back and think things over and look at your needs as well as the changes you will have to make. For me personally, it is a welcomed relief due to all the things going on in my own world and my need to think about the changes and the demands they will take on me.
Finally,
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate the U.S. Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas and a safe cross over into 2021. I hope to see you in 2021 but to be honest, I don't know right now.
Shalom aleichem,
Pat Garcia
Thanks for your heartfelt words, Pat. You're a gem for sure. The WEP team is a bit broken atm, but we've risen before. We have every intention of picking up the writing gauntlet in 2021. Come by on December 1 when our challenges are revealed. We're so excited at the direction we're taking and certainly hope you'll be along for the ride. WEP wouldn't be WEP without you.
DeleteMerry Christmas! Happy New Year! You, too, have a safe cross over to 2021.
Peace and love,
Denise
Cogfrats to all the winners and commiserations to everyone who wasn't short listed - I thought your stories were ace, too. I don't know how they mange to shortlist!
ReplyDeleteI might retitle my 'Unmasked' offering as 'Masked ' would also be apporpripriate, and then do a follow up idea I've had for 'Unmasked' next year.
Have a good break, you lovely admin team, and have a good holiday season.
D'oh, changed confrats to cogfrats. My eyesight is really playing up - the op is set for mid December :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your good wishes, Jemima. All the best for your eye op. You going to be unmasked?
DeleteIt's no fun collating a short list for sure. Everyone who writes for WEP is a winner in my eyes!
I’m so honored to be selected the winner for my goofy little story! I think maybe I’m not the only one who felt the need of some levity at this time. Congratulations to my fellow winners, as well!
ReplyDeleteOlga, hope that the illness passes quickly and without side effects, and thank you and all our leaders for your hard work!
Nick felt the levity was in order and hit the spot with him ... and the team, obviously. Congratulations again!
DeleteCongrats to Rebecca - such a fun story!! Congrats to everyone else as well.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Olga - take good care of you.
2020 has been a year! Wishing everyone on the admin team a well-deserved break and sending hugs to everyone. See you in the new year!
'2020 has been a year' all right. Let's hope 2021 is far less 'exciting'. Congratulations on getting your books out there Jemi.
DeleteYes, the team will thrive by taking some time off to reflect and to come back stronger next year. See you then! Although I'm sure I'll see you around the ridges before that!
Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to everyone who participated! There were so many wonderful entries!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Rebecca for her winning and light relief story. Gratz to Toi, Donna, and best wishes to everyone especially Olga. I've not read many of the entries, nor have I been active in any way. Depression, MS symptoms, and other excuses. Sparkle was struggling to return in December, but her case will be solved. However, my NaNoWriMo distraction was a non-starter - beyond the opening scene.
ReplyDeleteI missed out in October, much that I didn't want to. Congratulations to the winners. Will be heading over to read the entries. Hope 2021 is better for everyone and we can all get back to WEP rejuvenated after a long rest.
