- Read and comment on the participating blogs. This is one of the most important aspects for us. So sad if few read our work :-( Messes with our heads.

It's simple, so have fun!

Due to both Nila and Olga taking time this month, Elephant's Child is acting in an admin capacity. She'll help answer your questions and compile the shortlist.

Thank you so much Elephant's Child!

COMMENTS:
Comment counting will cease at midnight on Wednesday April 22nd 23:59 EST time, which gives about a week to read/comment. (If this is a problem to you, let us know and we'll give some leeway). When you've finished reading, it would be helpful if you left a comment on the main post to tell us you're done.PLEASE everyone, make sure comments are allowed on your blog.

  1. And away we go! Another awesome month of writing and reading. So looking forward to seeing who posts in these challenging times.

    1. I think it's going to be another epic journey. And so far it's proving to be just that. Sad news for the world, and even sadder news close at home. Love, prayers, and hope will be our salvation!

  2. PLEASE NOTE! COMMENT ALERT!

Due to most unfortunate family circumstances, Nilanjana will not be commenting this round. She's written an amazing entry before her circumstances changed. Any comments - you can make here. I'm sure at a later date, Nila will enjoy reading them.

OLGA, too, has challenges she's been meeting which will perhaps impact on her participation this month. You can leave comments at Olga's blog.

Please bear with us during these difficult times. Thank you all for understanding.

    1. Oh no! I hope life gets better and easier for them soon. It's rough out there. :(

  3. Nilanjana's piece blew me away. Elegant, informative and with a myriad of rabbit holes I will be be exloring at length later.

    1. I find that true with most all her posts, daily or during the challenges. Nila has a talent that is undeniable!

Thank you, for stepping in and being part of the team.

  4. I am sorry for Nilanjana's circumstances and wish her well. I think her piece still deserves to be in the running. I learned a great deal from it and will expect my diploma in art history in the mail! ;-)
I honestly never expect people to comment on my work. I have horrendous social anxiety and it's always a challenge for me to participate, but there are some folks that I'm always happy to hear from.

    1. I know Nila will appreciate your kind words. You too, though, are a very talented lady and social anxiety is a well known afflicted for the creative soul. You are not alone!

  5. Nila's entry was fabulous! Loved the flow and the elegance (as always!).
Sending hugs to both Nila and Olga in these tough times. Hoping all improves. Thanks to Sue for chipping in!

    1. Thanks, Jemi, your entry was great too, but I ditto your words on Nila's entry. Magnificient! She uses words so eloquently, like painting a masterpiece and always with hidden gems of brilliance!

  6. I love Nila's piece. From abstract to Vincent's painted flowers in a flash fiction - such a fascinating exploratory narrative.

    1. Yes, she wove her tale through history via the artistry of the earliest of practitioners. Beautifully crafted, just as the art of the past. I'm so glad to see you here Olga, thank you!

  7. Nila's piece was genius. I intend to return again and again to take it all in. Sometimes you have to be in the right mindset or you miss things...I do anyhow. Thank you Nila. Superb.

    3. Same experience for me with Sanhita's entry

    4. Yes, it's not set up to receive comments. Hopefully she'll respond to an email and take a look at it.

    5. I've emailed and C-Boxed her.

  9. I'm sad to hear Nila is unable to fully participate and hope she is well. I thoroughly enjoyed her piece. She always presents her pieces with a subtle dramatic flare that almost makes you forget that you are learning something. I also appreciate the way her pieces always evoke great emotion, whether from her personal history and experiences or through her passion for the subject matter. Lovely piece.

  12. I tried to comment on Pat's story, but Typepad wasn't having it. Strange, since I've been able to comment there before. I enjoyed the story and wondered what sort of job Beno had that made him have to sneak around. I imagine he is a secret agent of some kind.

    1. That is an ongoing problem with Kalpana's posts. For some reason her blog has a hissy fit at the link, but you can post a comment if you go to http://www.kalpanaawrites.com/i-was/

  16. For anyone besides me having trouble leaving comments on Kalpana's entry I was finally able to by not using the Linky Link. I went straight to https://www.kalpanaawrites.com/ and it worked like a charm!

    1. Sorry I usually try to preempt this by telling everyone to just type in the URL like Yolanda did. Most know this by now but newbies won’t. I’m letting Kalpanaa know via email but she doesn’t know how to fix the problem.

    2. I kept getting http errors which are believe are to do with the configuration of her SSL certificate. I see she is using Wordpress, so a plugin like "Really Simple SSL" (which I use) might work.

  17. I believe I've commented on everyone's story. Yet another great month of entries. Love the diversity in the tales!

  18. I wanted to leave a comment about Nila's piece. I'm so sorry for her unfortunately situation, but her piece was inspired. So informative, I loved the way it took the current prompt, then circled back, touching on the previous one. Excellent.

    1. Thanks, Donna. Nila is dealing with some personal issues and we've asked everyone to post their comments here for her work. I know she'll appreciate the responses when she can. She couldn't return comments and didn't want folks to leave one, but so many wanted to, so this is it!

  19. Nila's A-Z pieces are aloso inspired. Educative, beautiful, elegantly written and demanding a revisit (or six).

  20. Susan had commented on my blog post so I returned the visit. Her story is just fabulous. I see she hasn't added her name to the linky list - I don't know why - Denise probably knows the reason. But I'm adding the link to her story here. Don't miss it. https://writingsusanb-rouch.blogspot.com/2020/04/iwsg-wep-challenge-antique-vase-16th.html

  21. Kalpana, I tried to leave a comment on your page (twice) but it doesn't seem to want to go. Here's what I said (I got smart the second time and copied it before I hit post):

I like the reminder to grasp life and live it, though it makes me a little uncomfortable as I have to ask if we've put our parents in just such a nice, safe cage. It's hard to know where the balance is sometimes, though at the moment... let's just all stay in our separate display cases, okay? :D

  22. And... I did it! I managed to visit all the blogs in the time allotted!

  23. Apologies in advance to all whose posts I fail to read before the deadline. I'm late starting to visit other posts as I've been focusing on material for the IWSG Anthology release on May 5th, not to mention stemming the flood of emails - A to Z month adds to the backlog. Stay safe, sensible, and inspired, everyone.

Nila's post had to be the start for so many reasons. I love the way the piece is informative, rich with imagery and language, plus she returns to my favourite artist. What better way to end and start. My blessings go out to her.

    1. I seem to have visited everyone, although I got notifications from one site where my comment had disappeared. Maybe that was my problem in February - phantom visits. Anyway, re-commenting where I need to.

  27. I think I've managed to comment on every entry. As always, I was so impressed by the standard and variety of the interpretations. Some stories were similar in theme while others took the prompt in an unexpected direction, but all were a pleasure to read and gave me food for thought. Thank you to Denise, Elephant's Child and everyone who took part.

  28. Apologies Anstice. I fear my site might be glitched as comments aren't appearing. I'll keep checking in case I deleted some - apologies to you and any others.

  29. I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who've reached out to me here and through email. I wasn't really composed enough to articulate anything these past days. Your words mean a lot. Thank you.
