  1. I don't play FB so cannot find a way to comment on Carole Stolz's post. I tried to say
'I am loving this. And that despite his pain, despite his dismissal by so many, he perservered. And we, who come after benefit. And revel in the beauty he created.'

    1. I don’t have access to my laptop at the moment Sue but I’ll look into it when I can.

    2. Sorry, I have a new web-site and didn't know that the comments go over Facebook. I'll try to change that.
Thank you for your comments. Yes how does one keep going even over his short career as an artist, just selling ONE picture?! That MUST have messed with his head. So glad he kept going and was so productive so that we can enjoy his legacy. He showed true strength by just continuing.

    3. Since the comment went over Facebook, my comment on Carole's is under my real name, Laura Walker. Just thought I'd mention that here so there's no confusion.

    1. Thank you for reaching out, R's rue. If you want to write a poem for any of our challenges you're most welcome. Our next prompt is ANTIQUE VASE. Maybe something comes to mind.

    2. Thanks EC. I never thought to look back. Too many emails etc.

    3. Thanks for replying, Sue. In our previous post, Roland, we said all info/news will be contained in our 1st of the month post. Sorry for any inconvenience.

    4. No inconvenience, Denise. Had planned to pace my reading to two or three a day. But the pieces were all so inspired this time, I've finished them. Time to re-read them.

  4. Is it just me? Every link I click on comes up the InLinkz site!

    1. Not just you! Because it’s free we have to endure ads before it reaches the entry. I open up at least 3 at a time to save time.

  5. Hi Denise - hate FB as you know and like the others don't play as such, but visit occasionally ... but glad I've seen the comments note ... I'm a bit clearer now - so will be around soon ... thanks for adding my link - H xo

  7. Just an FYI, I sometimes have to comment with my Facebook account on Wordpress blogs. My Facebook is under my real name, Cara Hartley. I usually remember to sign with "cie from Team Netherworld," except when I don't.

    1. Do you prefer us to call you Cie or Cara? I've just called you Cara when you kindly commented on my prompt post.

    2. Yes, Cie, I've had to go through some machinations with WP this time. There seems to be more WP than blogger accounts atm. All very ornery.

      Delete
    3. Roland, either one works. Or Ornery works too.
Denise, WordPress and I have never gotten along. I wish that Blogger hadn't gotten rid of the Open ID option, though. I know there are some people who can't comment on my blog because of it, but I'm not going to use the everybody can comment option because then I get inundated with spam and trolls.

  8. KALPANAA ALERT!

If you visit Kalpanaa, don't go through the WEP link. Use her URL - kalpanaawrites.com or you can't leave a comment!

  10. When is the last day for adding comments to the wonderful entries (unless I've missed this somewhere)? I've been out of town for the past few days and am catching up on the readings.

  11. Hi Denise
I know I checked the board on February 22nd to ensure I had read all the stories. This evening I looked again again and see that Two more writers have added their stories to the list. So that means I haven’t read all the stories. Sorry about that but I thought February 21st midnight was the closing time.
    Shalom aleichem,
    Pat G

    1. You’re right Pat, but there were a couple of late ones we allowed. It’s totally up to you whether you read them. You’ll still be counted as read all.

    2. Thanks, Denise.
I only thought I had made a mistake of some kind. I have a lot going on right now and so I put some matters aside to participate in the WEP reading because the WEP is important to me, before I jumped back into what I had to get finished. Of course, I will read the last two. I want to read all of them.
      Have a great week.
      Shalom aleichem,
      Pat G

    3. Thanks Pat. And as always I’m humbled by your loyalty to WEP. I hope you get all your other commitments met.

  12. Kalpana's comment form doesn't like me. I emailed her my comment and will duplicate it here as well.
"The picturesque doorways of narrow houses smelling faintly of piss opened onto winding alleys that could be claustrophobic or chic, depending on how enchanted you were by the thought of poverty. If you didn’t have to live in those houses, you romanticised it..."
This should be the new dictionary definition for gentrification. My son always remarks on the way the ramshackle structures in the older areas are torn down to make way for glossy new soulless townhouses and condominiums and how this process pushes out the former residents, leaving them homeless.
This is a very impressive piece. The cutthroat business world makes me feel happy enough in my own less than ideal situation. I may live in poverty, but at least I'm not sucking up to a soulless social-climbing "superior."
I've been a Stella, passed up for promotion even though I was a hard worker because I didn't fit the script well enough, then admonishing myself that I needed to work on me. I could see these characters in my mind as if I was watching them in a movie. Superb!

    1. Yes Cie, I know about Kalpanaa’s commenting problems. You have to go directly to her site: kalpanaawrites.com.

It was indeed a fabulous piece of writing and it’s a shame it’s so difficult to tell her.

    2. Honestly, I keep working at the commenting bug.

  13. Another batch of fabulous stories!!
    (I believe I've visited/commented for everyone.)

  14. The stories were such a.delight to read. Every one of them was a treat. I've read and commented on all of them now.
I wish I could figure out what it is that blocks the comments. I can't post comments on blogger either, unless I do it through my phone.

  15. I wasn't able to leave a comment for Kalpana on her blog, so I'm posting it here. "I love your take on this prompt of Cafe Terrace. It's so unique among the submissions. It's a bit of a reality check, showing how the world is and hinting at how it should be. I feel that Stella could have stayed and fought but I understand her leaving. I once had to leave an abusive job with no upward mobility and it was the best choice I could have made."

    1. Thank you for your insights Toi. That's interesting that you wished Stella would stay and fight. What did you do after you left your abusive job?

  16. I wasn't able to leave a comment for Damyanti on her blog, so I'm posting it here. "This is sad. It's good, but I'm at a loss to say more. Thanks for sharing it. It really makes you think."

  17. I really enjoyed the entries for our first challenge. I look forward to the next one.

  18. I’ve read and commented on all the stories/poems. I sent an e-mail to Kalpana as I wasn‘t able to post to her. The entries are all so varied and each one a fascinating take on different facets of the picture or van Gogh himself. This has been such a great experience. I can‘t wait for the next challenge. Thank all of you for your hard work.

  19. Apologies, I still have about 4 more comments to leave which I'm doing this morning. I've enjoyed reading all the various interpretations of the prompt, there are some wonderfully creative entries.
