We're back! It's been a busy year for many of us, which is a good
thing when you're a writer. The A to Z
challenge, book tours, travel plans, and new projects has kept the WEP silent
since February. We thank you for your patience, support, and especially for
your continued enthusiasm!
The Gardens prompt is all about creativity. What picture comes to
mind when you hear the word 'garden' - the spectacular beauty of carefully
landscaped tiers – the fresh delights of a new snowfall on frozen branches – or
the haunting beauty of shadows and wilted plants at dusk on a fall night.
Please share your poetry, photography, artistry, or writing skills in a flash fiction piece inspired by a garden!
Your choice of medium, genre, word count (1000 maximum) and how the prompt inspires you!

I am in I think. Though it seems to be a strange piece.
ReplyDeleteHi, EC, I know what you mean! Mine is strange too! LOL
DeleteHere we go again! I'd be happy with strange Sue. I can't decide which way to go this time but I know it'll be fun.
ReplyDeleteI love strange, and especially that this challenge inspired some exciting writing for my Snowman WIP. And to be honest I keep wondering where this story will take me. The antagonist seems to be a bigger character than the protagonist. I hope I find the balance!
DeleteI'm going to join this WEP challenge, but not sure which way my imagination will go, either. Working on it. . .
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see you, D.G. I've struggled with this one, not being much of a gardener and all, but i do love to wander in a beautiful garden someone else has sweated over, LOL!!
DeleteI love gardens and once wrote a college essay while sitting in my grandmother's beautiful garden. So inspirational, and I got high marks, but today, well, I went in an entirely different direction. Must be the influence of the times! :)
DeleteSigned up! I have a feeling mine's going to be influenced by this strangeness too :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Strange is the theme for some of us by the looks! So pleased to see you here, Nila. Seems ages, doesn't it?
DeleteYup. been too long! So glad to be back!
DeleteSo if you have any spare strange ideas, send 'em my way!
DeleteA trifecta of strangeness, it can only be good! Hi, Nila, thanks for all the promotion for the challenge, so cool!
DeleteI'm signed up and ready to go!
ReplyDeleteWelcome L.G. Can't wait for all these wonderful Gardens entries!
DeleteHi, Laura, I can't wait to read your entry!
DeleteI'm going to write non-fiction for this one.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that way too Olga.
DeleteI love that! Thanks again, Olga, for the artistry of the badges! Perfection!
DeleteAnd I'm in!
ReplyDeleteMy mind's already going in some weird directions. Let's see what I end up settling on.
Looks like we'll have lots of weird Arpan!
DeleteI love the way your mind works, Arpan! :)
DeleteSo here's my permalink. All set to roll on that Wednesday. http://writegame.blogspot.com/2016/08/wep-august-garden-delights_17.html
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thanks Lee! Talk about being prepared. :)
DeleteI'm hoping to get something written for this. I'll ad my linky if write something. Love the idea of this; so creative. Thank you Olga for the beautiful badge.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you can fit it into your busy schedule, Donna. It's a great challenge, just hope I'm up to it, LOL!
DeleteI hope your job gives you a bit of a break so you can join us. We love your amazing stories!
DeleteRomance Under Fire is all set to entertain guests, and to flutter around everyone else's entries. So exciting. I love gardens. Blessings
ReplyDeleteIt is an inspiring prompt, isn't it. Thanks, Judy!
DeleteHey everyone! Pat Hatt is up as is Kate McManus! Look in the right hand sidebar and you can easily see who's posted in case we lag with the Direct Link (DL)!
ReplyDeleteEveryone who's participating has a link on this blog. Some past participants also.
My entry for this month is up and posted (597 words). I hope all of you enjoy my sojourn in the Hidden Valley of Paris. I tried to make this very real, very beautiful garden live for all of you. :-)
ReplyDeleteExcellent job! You achieved your goal!
DeleteDirect Link: http://dghudson-rainwriting.blogspot.ca/2016/08/a-garden-of-darkness-wep-gardens.html I've posted a little early this time due to appointments and etc. Let me know if any problems adding the direct link. I've already visited some of the other entrants and look forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteGot it DG. Look forward to reading it!
DeleteToi Thomas's direct link isn't working for me. Can you check please. And River's post is up.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. I was attending to that as you wrote. She's posting at 6am ET and I have no idea what that is. It'll show on the blog roll and I will add DL then. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi folks, just want to apologize for the slow response to commenting on posts. It's a busier day here than expected, and the internet hasn't even been switched out yet, but I promise I'll get to all the posts before the end of the week! So far, they are incredible! Thank you all for participating!
ReplyDeleteA huge thank you to Denise and Yolanda and everyone who participated. I have spent some delightful hours exploring the colours, textures and scents from some very different gardens.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue! The entries have been awesome. Thanks for your support.
DeleteThanks, Sue, this has been a great challenge. The entries are so creative and the journey truly special!
DeleteI enjoyed this challenge and have visited all the entrants, Yolanda and Denise. There are some great takes on this prompt! I only had trouble commenting on one entrant's story (may have been a WP, or a web site) When I looked for my comment it was wiped, nada. Perhaps it was due to my being a Blogger site, but c'est la vie. Thanks for hosting WEP, it inspires me.
ReplyDeleteHi, D. G.
DeleteI had the same problem, but I'll go back and try again. Otherwise, it's been a truly lovely experience!
Thanks to everyone who participated!
Thanks for your great support, D.G. There were some really fabulous entries. I think i was able to comment on everyone's but I opened up a WP site to overcome this silly blogger/WP problem.
DeleteUntil next time...
