Now, the IWSG and the WEP team have been busy this past month.
The IWSG held a competition, open to all, for the best prompt to kick off 2019 in February. They graciously offered a prize. The WEP team chose an entry by Toinette Thomas, 28 DAYS. Part of her prize was a guest post in the IWSG's Newsletter.
There was also an in-house competition between the IWSG admin to come up with the best prompt for December 2019. The winner was Tyrean Martinson. The WEP team liked her suggestion, FOOTPRINTS.
All our prompts and badges and blurbs for 2019 are found above in our Pages - Challenges 2019. We're all ready to go again for a fabulous year with a fabulous team of participants!
Now, let's get RIBBONS AND CANDLES underway! Please post as soon as you possibly can!

Sorry. I have been burning the candle at both ends (and the middle) and my sanity hangs in frayed ribbons. February. Hopefully.
ReplyDeleteI understand. Hope to see you in February!
DeleteThis should be a diverse challenge theme, I thinking. Also you may want to update the banner/picture for this challenge. Signup and post dates are the same.
ReplyDeleteThey're the same this time because we want people to feel free to post as soon as they'd like this time around. Since Christmas comes so soon after the original post date (December 19th), it'll give people more time to read and not feel overwhelmed so close to the holiday.
DeleteI see, I was really confused from that. Felt like I missed something, I didn't know I was missing.
DeleteI was gonna sign up, but I'm not sure how to do it. The linky thing looks different than usual. (?)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've already written my entry, but planned to post it on the 19th. Now I see you're indicating it's okay to post anytime after the first. Isn't it going to be confusing as heck if everybody's posting on a different day??? Seems like it would work best if there were one set day for everyone to post, so we'd all know exactly when to visit the other blogs...
The linky will go live soon, so don't despair! We set it up this time around so people won't be overwhelmed with having to read so many entries that close to Christmas. That being said, posting and reading on the original posting day is perfectly fine. No pressure! It'll be back to the old way for February.
DeleteHi Susan! We always have people posting on different days. Makes for easier reading. We decided if we could get some peeps to go early it takes the pressure off Christmas!
DeleteWoo HOO! Success. (I thought I was just stupid for not being able to figure out how to sign up earlier...) Makes sense to spread out the entries, especially this time of year, but too bad there wasn't a way for each of us to indicate what date we're planning to post to make things a little simpler.
DeleteAh there are so many ways we have that covered, Susan...Blogroll, C-Box, comments, emails...thanks for your concern, but we manage. :-)
DeleteHi Denise. It looks like the LInky is set to open on a different 1 am timezone. I've brought mine forward a week, to the 12th (UK zone) http://jemimapett.com/blog/2018/12/12/wep-ribbons-candles-christmas-flashfiction/
ReplyDeleteAnd as you see, I've fixed the problem with comments :D
I'm looking forward to reading it!
DeleteIt's set to NY time. I've been out for the day and wasn't here to monitor. Thanks to L.G. for holding the fort.
DeleteI've just uploaded my link to my WEP post, Bright Mirage, a 1946 flash Christmas fiction of lost love, possession, and insanity.
ReplyDeleteDLdone Roland!
DeleteWell, I'm all signed up but I have no idea what I'm going to write. ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you come up with!
DeleteCool! Thanks! I'm signing up for this month.
ReplyDeleteYay, Tyrean. And I hope you'll join us for FOOTPRINTS in December 19, LOL!
DeleteYay, I'm looking forward to reading your work!
DeleteBTW, I've written my post, but it will go live on the 10th. Hope that's okay.
ReplyDeleteThat's fine Tyrean. 10th is still nice and early.
DeleteOkay! I signed up!
ReplyDeleteNow I need to complete the flash fiction piece.
I'll probably post sometime next week, after 05th December (IWSG Day).
Looking forward to it!
DeleteSigned up and have my contribution drafted. But I may struggle to edit it as already frantic. But our new kitties love all the ribbons.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! We always aim to please the kitties in the community. :-) Looking forward to reading your entry.
DeleteCan't wait to read it!
DeleteBehind and struggling to post something coherent before the 19th.
DeleteCreated a space to work on my post: https://rolandclarke.com/2018/12/14/wep-iwsg-december-2019-challenge-ribbons-and-candles/ Now to fit in the visits to exciting reads.
DeleteI fear that I may well not get to everyone in time. But what is reading deadline, please?
DeleteThis looks great, I wish I'd seen the competition sooner but there isn't enough time. I want to publish a book and my blog is the perfect platform to market it and with you guys reminding me, i can make it so but theres always a but.... why is that?
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered the same thing myself. You're not alone in that.
DeleteHere's a Direct Link - it's set to publish on Monday the 10th :)
ReplyDeletehttps://jemifraser.blogspot.com/2018/12/wep-challenge-candlelight.html
Looking forward to the stories!!
I look forward to reading your piece!
DeleteMine will be live on Tuesday afternoon. :)
ReplyDeleteLook forward to reading it!
DeleteExcited to read it!
DeleteLovely idea! I'm done and figuring out how to post!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us again, Lisa.

ReplyDeleteI've gone to all but six links and a lot have yet to post so I'll have to go back. I love how different all the stories have been. And, I love that we can post any time. Makes reading everyone easier before the 'season' really hits. Thanks for hosting this!
ReplyDeleteMine is delayed as working on my backlog from November - post NaNoWriMo. Have a deadline this Friday that I can't miss - so by Monday...?
DeleteThat’s fine Roland.
DeleteOkay, read all the DL links! This is so much fun. Can't wait to read all the others...
ReplyDeleteGlad you’re having a hoot Lisa.
DeleteI got my entry posted earlier than expected. https://etoithomas.com/ribbons-and-candles-wepff-challenge-featuring-tilly-and-the-arbol-tree-amwriting-flashfiction/
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to start reading the other entries. I'm so excited to see what everyone is sharing.
Toi: I LOVED your story but am unable to leave a comment.
DeleteI wonder why. Did it give you an error?
DeleteI couldn't even find WHERE to comment.
DeletePlease ignore me. Screw loose in the operator. I have found my way in and happily commented.
DeleteOk, so I think I know what the problem is. The comment section on my blog almost looks like a new post, but it's not. Once you get all the way to the end of the post, there's a break (dark blue) then a new section for the comments. You should see a box all the way at the bottom that says, "What are your thought?" Hope that helps. In any case, I'm glad to know you enjoyed it. I'm slow making my rounds, but I'll get to everyone in time. :D
DeleteI'm looking forward to reading it!
DeleteIt's up! https://tyreanswritingspot.blogspot.com/2018/12/wep-december-ribbons-and-candles.html
