Hello
everyone!
There
were simply too many amazing stories to make the job of choosing a winner easy,
so we gave up. Just kidding.
Annalisa
took her time, reading and re-reading the 3 entries sent to her and this is the
result:
Annalisa
told us, "wow, that was so hard. I'm glad I only had to look at the final
three - I'd never be able to make a decision otherwise." :-)
THE WINNER OF THE
2015 WEP – HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE

telling myself monsters aren't real!"
I think
we all were! J. Lenni took us back to our childhood. A true Halloween treat!

THE ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD FOR
THE
2015 WEP – HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE
GOES TO
Annalisa
said, "A chilling, horrific story, vividly written. So many
questions..."
So true,
the altruistic gift of mothers' milk from such horrific actions, unbelievable
and so perfect for Halloween.
Congratulations Nila!
Please
copy the badge onto your blog, brag about it, link it to your fabulous chilling
flash fiction! It's hardly fair that we
were chilled to the bone, yet some remain oblivious to this horrific story
lurking on the web.
CONGRATULATIONS
WINNERS!
Denise
and I sent Annalisa a list of 3 finalists, but before that, we went back and forth, and back
and forth because the list was near impossible to cut down to 3. We love
hosting the WEP and coming up with the challenges, but we HATE choosing the
list of winners. It's just too damn hard!
The
stories were so wonderful--how do you choose between Jeff's man-eating skunk
monster, and Arpan's haunting stranger on the path home, or Bish's funny naked
mermaid and Michelle's descent into madness? I tell you it's near impossible,
so a huge thank you goes to Annalisa Crawford for making the process a little
easier. Our previous post gives a sketch of each entry.
And our Random.org
winner is:
Congratulations Jeff!
A $5 Amazon Gift Card will
arrive soon!

Congratulations to the winners! I don't envy any of you who had to narrow it down or select the winner. Great work everyone! I can't wait for December!
ReplyDeleteIt's tough trying to work through the long list then the short list, LG. So many were worthy of the winner's prize, but there can only be 3 in this case! December will be here before we know it! I'm glad you're participating!
DeleteCongrats to the winners!! I found Nila's particularly horrific. . .
ReplyDeleteYes, I think Nila raised the horror bar to the max! Don't think I'll ever forget that one!
DeleteCongrats everyone. And a special congrats to the winners. *whistles* I agree. Nila and of course, Michelle's. Great job and great fun was had by all. And a HUMONGOUS thank you to Denise and Yolanda for keeping this together every single time. You two ROCK. Happy Halloween. Bwa ha ha ha ha.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a ghoulish pleasure to host the Halloween hop. So many creepo stories and poems...yours truly...to never forget. Thanks for your 2 fantastic poems Robyn!
DeleteP.S. Thanks to Annalisa too.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't make it easy on her that's for sure. Luckily she only had 3 to contend with, not 30!!
DeleteMany of the submissions were great. I thought Roland Yeoman's story with the Lakota lore was very interesting among others. Congratulations to the winners!
ReplyDeleteYes, Deborah, each entry had something to teach us, and Roland's Lakota law was riveting, I agree.
DeleteHuge congratulations to the winners. And immense gratitude to Yolanda, Denise, and Annilisa for undertaking a very, very difficult job.
ReplyDeleteI am also thankful (I think) to all those who entered and ensured that I didn't mind my insomnia nearly as much. Sleep wasn't restful after reading many of the entries.
Ha Ha, EC, I think we all lost a little sleep. I think each of us finds different ideas/scenarios scarier than others. For my money, There were so many entries that raised the scariness stakes and the nightmare quotient.
DeleteCongratulations to the winners!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Nila and Samantha's entries. I REALLY enjoyed Arpan's story too.
I'll have to admit that I didn't get a chance to read J.Lenni's piece, but I'll do so now.
Later, when I have more time, I'll read the rest of the entries...
THANK YOU to Denise and Yolanda for another awesome round of WEPFF.
You ladies ROCK!
Hi Michelle, we did too, the whittling down to three was so tough, too tough, and we hate that part of the job. The rest of it is a blessing though!
DeleteYou rock Michelle! I hope you read J Lenni's poem and see what we saw. Arpan was on the very short list, her story much loved by both of us...but we can only choose 3!! It was especially hard this time as the quality was so high!
DeleteCongrats to the winners, there were some great entries this year :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic entries, all! Including yours, Laura!
DeleteCongratulations to the winners. Such a difficult job to whittle the entries down to just three to choose an overall winner, so many diverse and brilliant entries. Thank you for all your hard work Yolanda and Denise for making WEP so great. It's a lovely community to be a part of.
ReplyDeleteWe do enjoy it Sally, and your entry too was wonderful! Brought back lovely memories of my Grandmother, thank you!
DeleteHey Sally, it's people like you who make this a great community! Thank you for always creating a great entry. I loved your generational differences story!
DeleteCongrats Yolanda, Denise, and Annilisa, on a successful scarefest! This was tons of fun & I enjoyed the jaunt down creepy lane as a writer & reader! Thank you so much for enjoying my collaborative tale! See you on the other side of November:)
ReplyDeleteYour entry, Sam, was genius! Loved it, and so happy that you won! But the decision to cut it down to three - near impossible!
DeleteThanks so much for inviting me to judge this contest. Congrats to the winners :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Annalisa, your post on writing scary helped us gain more participants, wonderful! And bless you for picking the order! We so needed the help!
DeleteWe're both glad you made the final order Annalisa. Thank you so much! And thanks for your guest post which was so helpful to so many. :-)
DeleteWoot-woot! Congratulations to the winner & runners-up! Great entries, all. Looking forward to the next one!
ReplyDeleteGuilie @ Quiet Laughter
I'm so glad Guilie, the challenges are so different and we hope offer a new writing challenge each time!
DeleteFantastic writing. Congratulations to the winners.
ReplyDeleteThere were so many fantastic tales, weren't there?
DeleteThank you SO MUCH! This means so much to me. I am thrilled that the poem was liked.
ReplyDeleteCongrats JLenni! Your poem was amazingly tense and downright scary!
DeleteI am so thrilled to bits/so gobsmacked! Horror is not my forte, as you know very well :) Thank you so very much, Denise, Yolanda and Annalisa!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jenni and Samantha - both their entries were mind blowing and unique! I enjoyed reading each and every post...major sleep issues the whole week :)
For someone to whom horror is not her forte you wrote possibly the most horrific tale Nila! Stepping outside your comfort zone paid off!
DeleteCongrats to all the winners. There were certainly some interesting stories. This was a lot of fun Yolanda and Denise. Looking forward to Holiday writing.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners. All so well deserved. Now, to get ready for Christmas. Wait! What's behind me? Could it be a ghost? Boo. Happy Halloween.
ReplyDeleteNancy
